Neighbourhood Demonstrators
Climate envelopes reduce noise and create additional space.
Noise Protection
In most urban areas, residents suffer from excessive noise.
Traffic—whether by rail, road, or air—is a major source of external sleep disturbances, which can lead to fatigue, lack of concentration, and even serious heart conditions.
A climate envelope as an outer building layer can significantly reduce noise.
The key is controlled ventilation, which not only ensures hygienic indoor air quality but also eliminates the noise problems associated with uncontrolled natural ventilation.
Additional Living Space
The climate envelope adds an extra spatial layer to the building that can serve various purposes.
Unlike a conventional conservatory, a climate envelope features regulated air circulation and humidity levels. This extends the period during which the space can be used and opens up a wider range of possible uses beyond simply being a lounge area.
One example would be “rooftop greenhouses for urban farming,” where building users can grow produce within the envelope space.
